FIVB Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifying Preview

Commonly called the FIVB Grand Slam of Volleyball, a few matches were scrubbed on Friday due to heavy rain and some lightning in the area around St. Petersburg, Florida.

NBC will air two hours of coverage of the men’s semfinals and finals, along with women’s pool play on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Sunday will feature the qualifying rounds for the women on NBCSN at 2 to 4 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the semis and final medals match on NBC between 4 to 6 p.m.

Names to Look Out For:

For Brazil, it starts with two teams that haven’t dropped a set yet in competition–Larissa Franca/Talita Antunes and Bednarczuk/Seixas.

For the defending Olympic gold medal winners in the United States, look again for April Ross to dominate and Jennifer Kessy/Emily Day (seeded 23rd) to hopefully move up in the international rankings.

I hope to provide a brief recap of both genders on Monday or Tuesday.

Enjoy the volleyball!

As the old AVP campaign always used to say in the middle 1990’s:

SPIKE IT UP!
