Brief Olympic Update
With my efforts mostly focused on my other blog here on WordPress, I had just a little bit of time to mention that during the week of April 16 through the 22 at Rio Olympic Arena, 100 spots will be determined in artistic, rhythmic, and trampoline gymnastics.
Also of note, Nate Ebner 27 year old New England Patriots defensive back who won Super Bowl XLIX in the Patriots’ close shave win over Seattle will be taking time away from OTA’s and voluntary team workouts in Foxboro, Massachusetts as he attempts to earn a spot on Team USA’s Rugby Sevens team. According to an article on ESPN.com on March 15, he mentioned in a conference call that this was his “boyhood dream” and that he once played the sport as a teenager.

Nice tie-in also for NBC when August rolls around as they will be eventually gearing up for yet another thrilling season (Year Two after Deflategate) when Tom Brady and the Patriots will battle again for another Super Bowl berth on Football Night In America.
But I digress with the final piece of Olympic news for the month…
The basketball teams draw was decided on March 11, with Team USA defending their gold medal from London in Group A with Australia, China, Venezuela, and a pair of other countries to be determined in qualifying tournaments slated for July 4 through 10. For the women, Team USA will put their gold medal on the line in Group B against our neighbors from the north in Canada, Senegal, and Serbia. Two other countries will be added after a qualifying tournament during the period of June 13 through the 19th.
